It’s that time of year.. where the only thing you see when you look out of the office window is tents. Tents.. everywhere. (Or is that just me?). It’s true: the festival goer is a strange creature. Huge imaginations and melting creative souls (waiting for the festival season to begin). They dream of places where they can be truely free. Where the human soul can get down and dirty with mother nature and not be hit in the face with a bottle of wee hurtling out of the crowd (V-Festival). But it’s also that time of year where you need to make a choice. Glastonbury is sold out – (as per bloody usual) and what with it being the recession an all..it really is (for a lot of normal people like me) about budget and choosing which festival to go to. Now – I’ve never been to Secret Garden Party but it’s been on my agenda for a few years now.. (I had swine flu last year – most upsetting) – and from what I hear it has rowing boats, lakes, flame throwers, shakespeare speeches around fires. It’s only hear say I’m afraid (cos obviously I’ve never been!) but it is meant to be amazing… and the beauty of the event – one would assume is the mystery of the Secret.
In my head I see an Alice in Wonderland tea party (made out of a mirage of tents of course) with a Lovely Bones appeal (the film – in the way it’s shot – not the dying factor.. ). I truly hope it is as good as the hype.. and after reading the reviews on the facebook fan page:
‘Where else can you see a woman dressed as a spider crawling along the floor and over people?!’
Remember the good old days. Before you grew up.. or the recession began.. back when you were studying. Sigh. When innocence and naivety was apparent .. to everyone else – but not you. The time before the music industry was falling over itself.. when you were drunk everyday and it was either Green Day or Offspring. Before Offspring sold out and became townified and their branded clothes started appearing on the shelves in Topshop. Shit.. that was it. That was the day the music industry started blending together as one. (Note: I’ve pinpointed the day of music industry destruction: I will be famous).
I mean young people are even making music out of playstations and gameboys now. (Fuck: I’m writing this like I’m old.. I’m not fucking old ok.. ) What next? Huh? Soon there will be no need for music. There will simply be different pitches and elements of sounds created by technical devices fed to us by men similar to those in the Matrix. I know this is happening because today.. today… I received a John Barrowman album. It had my name on it. It was addressed to me. And now I fear there must be only one reason for this. The men are after me. And I don’t know what to do. We are all as one now. I must. Listen.. to John Barrowman.. Track 6.. Is There Life After High School? Oh god.. OH GOD..NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Hello. My name is Becki. I really like this John Barrowman album. It is very good. He has a sweet honey like voice and the face of an angel. In the future all men will look like John Barrowman. And us women will never quarrel over men. Because our husbands will be clones like John Barrowman. I know because a man visited me in my dreams in the middle of the night.. and he sang to me …
Went to see The Correspondents last night at new venue The Book Club in Shoreditch (this could become my new official hangout for 2010) – if you haven’t checked them out yet then you’re missing a trick. Duo Mr. Bruce (Singer/MC) and Mr. Chuckles (DJ/Producer) are a tasty team of lyrical delight fusing hip hop and swing to create a genre called ’swing hop’. (Although another term I’ve also heard is ‘electro swing’.) But who cares about labels! The duo can get any room pumping – and having seen Mr Bruce take to the stage in a huge tent at Bestival he proves that no place is too small…no venue too big for Mr Bruce’s dancing feet.
Love this new video by Ash! Sounds like they’ve found a new sound – a little more poppy don’tcha think? Or is that pop’y.. good vibes anyhow..
‘I love this city – I live for this town’
Good lyrical vibes..
I have a picture somewhere when I was 17 at my first festival.. Reading .. with an Ash t-shirt on and me with a picture with them! Wow – and they’re still going now! Off to find it.. :-p
Enjoy!

I ‘trotted’ on down to Battersea Power Station on Saturday to the Freeze Festival to watch some of the best snowboarders and skiers tackle the slopes. But ultimately to see Eagles of Death Metal and Sweethead. Wondering around the site I spotted a man standing chatting on the phone. This man was not there to ski. He was not there to snowboard. He was a rock star. Rock stars exude coolness, and the black shaggy hair and skinny jeans certainly did not look appropriate for the slope. So we asked him for an interview. He said after the show. And took my phone number. But he didn’t call. I thought we’d be Eagles of Death Metals first priority when exiting the stage? Several hours later. After enduring an extremely long Calvin Harris DJ set (I’m not saying it was bad – I was saying it was.. long) we snuck backstage to hunt out an interview. And spotted – Troy Van Leeuwen – mostly known for his work in Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal – and currently on tour with new band Sweethead. Sweethead are releasing their new album next week – November the 2nd it states on their myspace page… it’s certainly one I am waiting for. Video interview below…
Hello. I’ve been seeing some great bands this summer. And it’s about time I put the photos up – see below photos of Ebony Bones, Treetop Flyers, The Vinyl Stitches and the Epstein. Each band has something different to offer – if you want visually exciting check out the pleasurable Ebony Bones who’s front lady looks like she might turn you into stone with a wink of the eye if you don’t move your booty on the dancefloor. The Treetop Flyers are way ahead in terms of musical talent within their genre – sporting an onstage jamfest that is intensely overwhelming. I had a tear in my eye. The Epstein are following suit and have a lot to offer although a lot softer – and for the psychedelic lovers out their The Vinyl Stitches are keeping the sounds of Brian Jones Town Massacre very much alive although they could be in danger of being too similar to the Brady Bunch on stage if they’re not careful..
