LEEDS FESTIVAL

Well I’ve finally sorted this thing out (probably a little late!) but hey ho! My name is Becki Burrows.. and this summer I’ve been touring festivals seeing if I can get backstage to interview musicians.. for our ohDearyme Blag Blog.. it started off a little shaky … but the more we persevered the more bands wanted to be involved…mad eh!? So this was our last video blog of Leeds Festival.. and yes Leeds festival is far better than Reading.. (sorry guys but it is!) Its cleaner… less crowded… more toilets… and generally nicer.. so check out our blag blog with Does It Offend You Yeah?, Reverend and the Makers, The Noisettes, We Are Scientists, Biffy Clyro, Ash, Jack Penate….Kate’s one word review, Cham, and …. me….

V FESTIVAL

Previously Danny, Tom and I were at V-Festival - where we made challenges for randoms in the crowd. We managed to ‘blag’ it backstage…by – get this – walking backstage… seriously – we just walked through with a video camera and there we were five metres away from Dave Grohl – we didn’t get an interview though – gutted! But we did manage to capture Dizzee Rascal, Boy Kill Boy, Dub Pistols and Unklejam!!!

GLOBAL GATHERING

We were meant to get to the Newquay Boardmasters the week before but I had to move house.. so that didn’t happen – but the week before that – we were at Global Gathering in Stratford… Shakespeare Country – this was probably one of the hardest blag blogs as everyone dropped out on the Friday – but thankfully Hoppy and Tom stepped in to help out – being from the midlands it was easier for them to get to than my London mates…. check out our interview with David Guetta – and how we get rejected by Armand Van Helden…..

LOVEBOX

The week before was Lovebox – Groove Armada’s – Andy Cato and Tom Findlay’s creation set in Victoria Park London – and if you want a good day out this is certainly a good local festival! We were meant to interview Patrick Wolf here but he got sent home for being naughty… we did manage to sneak onto the Myspace bus though and interview Vincent Vincent and the Villains and New Young Pony Club – then we managed to get onto the side of the stage for the Rapture and get a quick interview (who were ace!) and you never guess what! We managed to blag our way into the green room and get an interview with Andy Cato in his dressing room area… star!!!

Part two -

LATITUDE FESTIVAL

Latitude Festival was the mission before that and was amazing – a beautful festival and probably my favourite of the summer hmmm… actually Carling Leeds is pretty good too… anyway – we managed to interview many musicians here - including The Magic Numbers, Findlay Brown, Albert Hammond Jnr’s entourage, Herman Dune, Scroobius Pip, our favourite - Bat for Lashes, The Puppini Sisters and – wait for it – we got the only interview with The Good The Bad and The Queens’ Paul Simonon – and he was ACE! Check em out!

Part Two -

ART BRUT PR STUNT

I didn’t get to Glastonbury which was my aim of the summer - so after we did the O2 Wireless video (admittedly the editing is a bit dodgy!) we bumped into Eddie Argos of Art Brut and he was really sound and filmed this for us – which we sent to virtualfestivals.com who agreed and sent us to the next festival…

O2 WIRELESS

The week before I was at O2 Wireless – with Headphonesex.co.uk writer James – and we chatted to Rosie Oddie, Datarock, and that awesome band Digitalism – who I finally went to see at Leeds festival – they absolutely stormed it… YET Daft Punk at O2 Wireless has to be one of the best sets I’ve seen to date!! Check it out!!!!

THE GREAT ESCAPE

And this was the first blag blog of the summer… created for a competition to travel around europe for a week – needless to say we didn’t win their competition but we decided to continue with the blag blog after ratings on virtualfestivals.com

The week before that I was on the Camden Crawl taking photos for MTV (because of bumping into a friend at The Good The Bad and the Queen gig – see below!) -  and I had a phone call from Eddy Temple Morris half way through Ali Love’s set… telling me I’d won a £1000 worth of music equipment – I chose Decks! Wicked!!!

This is my photo of Hadouken outside the Koko club at the Camden Crawl…

 Hadouken

Mr Ali Love… he can’t believe I won decks either….

Ali Love

My beautiful Stanton T.80’s…..

Decks - that I won..

And a few months before that I won tickets to go and see The Good The Bad and The Queen on myspace where I took a few photos – I then bumped into a friend who worked at MTV – he’d forgotten his camera – so I took a few pics….. then he  hosted the photos on the website and that my friend… is where it all began…..! Because then he got us into the Great Escape as a thank you for the photos I’d taken…

Damon Albarn – The Good The Bad and The Queen.. we didn’t manage an interview at Latitude though!…

Damon Albarn

Damon again.. close up!

And that my friend is the story of how the blag blog all began…

Hello. It’s very late and I’ve just got back from Ed’s and I’m leaving a comment because you told me to. I really should read all this but I’m far too tired, so I shall tomorrow, I promise.

    Peace out,
